pixel planets prototype
this is just a prototype and no game yet
Most of what you see here is done with godot canvas shaders
Planet: The planet's sphere and atmosphere are drawn mathematically. The terrain is created using layers of procedural noise combined with a standard 2D texture map wrapped around the sphere. The clouds use Fractional Brownian Motion (fBm) for a more natural, detailed pattern. The lighting is a standard 3D model that can be stylized into cel shading or a dithered pixel-art look.
Starfield Background: This is a procedural star generator. It uses a simple algorithm to randomly place star sprites on a grid, with a setting to control their density. The entire field is then scrolled to create a sense of motion.
Sun Flare: The flare is a procedural noise effect. The noise is shaped into radial rays to create the appearance of a sun. Image processing techniques are then used to increase the contrast and add a bright central glow.
